Green bean can

July 22nd, 2007

As I continue my wait to hear from the area manager of my apartments, I would like to ask a question. Why do recipes tell you to preheat your oven first? It often only takes about 6 minutes for an oven to preheat (longer for gas), but preparing the dish to go in the oven can take around 30 minutes at times. So, of course, the pretty little oven sits there waiting for you. It makes me feel a bit impatient, not to mention the wasted electricity or gas. So, my goal for the first time making a new recipe is to note how long it actually takes to prepare the food going in the oven. Then I will utilize my limited math skills to successfully avoid wasting electricity. Yay for me.

However, I’m feeling guilty about the glass olive oil bottle and aluminum green bean can sitting in my trash can. I haven’t figured out my recycling container plan just yet. Boo for me.
