Re-use old towels

July 31st, 2007

It’s a reasonable thing to buy new towels when your old ones are starting to get threadbare. But unless they are really falling apart, don’t throw them out. What? Give them away? Who would want these nasty things that you’ve dried off with hundreds of times?

Puppies, dogs, cats and kittens. That’s who. Donate them to your local animal hospital or shelter. They would be happy to have them. Hospitals use them for many things, such as drying off an animal that’s just been washed or providing padding against a steel cage for animals waking up after surgery. And always kitties need something to snuggle against! If clinics and hospitals don’t get enough donations, they have to buy new towels to replace the ones that dogs chew up.

Call ahead before you go. Some shelters also need newspapers for lining cages.
