Kitty’s Crumble Giveaway

March 3rd, 2010

I’m happy to tell you about a new eco-friendly cat litter on the market — Kitty’s Crumble.

It’s different from all the rest since it literally falls from the sky. Yup. It comes from coconut husks (coir).

kitty-crumbleCoir is earthy which cats love, but it’s also super absorbent, holding up to four times its weight in liquids that are disbursed evenly for kitty’s comfort. Coir also controls odor.

Plus, Kitty’s Crumble has a very small carbon footprint. The centuries-old coconut groves are supported by rainfall, and the coconuts are collected by hand. They’re also grown without fertilizers or pesticides.

The packaging is recyclable and filled to the very top (no wasted space). When you’re done with Kitty’s Crumble and the solid wastes have been removed, use it right away as a fertilizer or add to compost.

Kitty's Crumble textureKitty’s Crumble is giving away one bag of their cat litter to a Light Green Stairs reader.

To enter, leave a comment on this post before 11 pm CST on Saturday, March 27. The contest is open to anyone with a cat and a continental US mailing address.

The randomly selected winner will have three days to respond to my request for a mailing address, so please check your spam filters.

I’d love to try this, thanks for the chance to win.

I’d like to try this – we used the shredded paper brand from another provider and it didn’t work at all. Odors were not contained and the..uh..mess just went straight through to the pan. Gross. This is a great opportunity to try something before spending money. Thanks.

With 3 cats to keep in litter, I’d be thrilled to have some free! I’m willing to give anything a shot.

  4. Nikki on March 3, 2010 10:25 am

It would be interesting to try this stuff to see if it really keeps the odor down like popular brands of cat litter. I like that it’s 100% green!

  28. Barbara on March 7, 2010 6:05 pm

I’d be interested to know if this tracks. I love the pine litter that looks like sawdust except for the fact that it tracks all over the house.

  29. Peggy on March 8, 2010 12:41 am

Barbara, I might review this in the future as I don’t know about the tracking either. Right now, I’m using two different litters in separate boxes and don’t want to confuse the cats anymore! BTW, you can buy a special litter box made for the pine litter you mentioned. I’ve reviewed the box before and will have to post it here some time.

I have been looking for a chemical/pesticide/dust-free cat litter for years! Cedar and pine has harmful phenols…hardwood chips may produce carcinogenic dust…silica dust is harmful…grains are susceptible to mold…sodium bentonite could expand inside animal….Is it possible that Kitty’s Crumble is the “just right” product?? I’m holding my breath!! I sure do hope I get to try it out…the closest store is a couple of states away!!
    Thank you!!!

  38. Alisha Patrick on March 19, 2010 4:11 am
