Organic lawn care at the National Mall

According to a recent article in a newsletter by emagazine.com, a four-acre section of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. is going green. Of course, grass is always green, right? Depends on which green.

The nonprofit SafeLawns.org is hoping to help make these four acres a model of sustainable, organic lawn care. After two years of organic care, the acres will be compared to other parts of the Mall cared for with traditional (non-organic) practices. The National Park Service and the EPA will look at the health and integrity of the organic versus non-organic lawn areas.

I’m rooting for the organic lawn of course!
