You may think it’s simple to get an answer out of apartment managers, but it’s not. If you rent already, your call just might be ignored. I question the wisdom of this practice since nearly every apartment agent I’ve talked with has complained about the high cost of “flip.” Still, this ignoration does sometimes persist.
Not surprisingly, my call was not answered. From previous experience I realize it’s probably not good to leave a voice message. Instead, I leave an automated message through their website. I choose the “general inquiries” option, since this wasn’t about rental payment or a service request. I simply ask them if recycling bins may be added near the trash compactors. And who provides our trash service – the City or a private company? I vaguely recall the $3 a month I pay for trash service.
Just got an e-mail response: “We look forward to meeting you in person to take you on a tour of your new home. One of our staff will be contacting you very soon to answer any questions that you may have.” Not encouraging since I’ve lived here for almost a year now, but I’m still hoping.
According to the City website, recycling bins are only provided for “single family homes and multi-family housing of 8 units or less.” (The grammarian in me believes they should have hyphenated “single family,” but that’s not what’s important here.) There are certainly more units than that at my complex. Chances are, I’m going to have to drive my trash somewhere. (Flies come to mind, flies. [Bad me for thinking that.]) Still, I’m hoping the apartments can arrange something. Maybe a private company handles our trash. It is my mission to find this out. I won’t be a subject of ignoration any longer.
