I posted a few days ago about how I’m trying to eliminate the number of catalogs I receive. GaelSong is a good example. I ordered something from them for a relative for Christmas last year. I’ve been receiving this catalog since then. I’m not really a Celtic chic, and I could always see their stuff online anyway. And don’t think that moving fixes this problem. Nearly all the businesses I was receiving mail from tracked me down at my new address.
Apparently I overlooked the option they give you to not receive the catalog when you order. So, I’ll be looking for that from now on.
Getting off this mailing list was fairly simple. I just sent them an email with my customer number (this is usually above your address on the label or printed to the side of the address area) and my name and mailing address.
But there’s a catch. I e-mailed Restoration Hardware a few days ago to be removed from their mailing list. Since I had already taken those catalogs to recycling I didn’t have my customer number. They couldn’t process the request without that precious customer number.
So, if you are going to go about reducing unwanted catalogs, be sure to get that customer number off the back before you sent it on to its second life.
