Recycled and BPA Free Cutting Boards and Colanders

September 1st, 2010

These things are really green. Not just green in a colorful way, but recycled and recyclable and totally BPA free.

Back in June, I told you about the recycled Preserve plates I bought (and am still loving). Now, I want to introduce you to my cutting board and colanders.

As mentioned, I’m really liking the Preserve reusable plates, but of all the stuff I bought online from Preserve (small colander, large colander, cutting board, plates), my favorite item has to be the small colander.

My husband says it’s just a colander, but to me it’s the cutest and most useful colander I’ve owned. I like to wash grapes in it, then use it as a snacking bowl by the computer. It’s that cute, but I also use it for other stuff like washing produce!

Of course, the bigger colander is very useful too. Yet, the smaller colander feels less awkward to use. Maybe that’s just me secretly hating items that take up a lot of space in the dishwasher. Or maybe the handles on the smaller colander really are more comfortable. The draining holes in both colanders seem to be just the right shape. Even skinny pasta doesn’t escape.

Now for the cutting board: It’s great, and I have no idea why I didn’t order the smaller cutting board too. The large plastic cutting board is very sturdy with the most convenient and genius curved handle. The board does well in the dishwasher and doesn’t show knife marks much due to the textured circle in the center. You can see the knife marks if you look closely.

I haven’t tried Preserve’s paper cutting board, but if you’re looking for a safe plastic cutting board, then I think you can’t go wrong with this one. And it’s also available in red and white. The only negative thing I can say about the board is that you may have to be more mindful how you put it in the dishwasher due to the curved handle bumping into other items next to it. That’s no big deal though — just a slight adjustment.

The Big Advantages
All items I bought from Preserve are made in USA, dishwasher safe, BPA free, recycled from #5 plastic and ever so stylish. When you can’t use them anymore, Preserve will recycle them again for you. I’ve been using these kitchen items since June, and they aren’t looking tired at all. Don’t think that recycled means wimpy. These are sturdy kitchen assistants I think you’llĀ  like.

Do you have any favorite Preserve products?
