Being green includes looking at how our actions affect the wildlife around us. Because of habitat loss due to deforestation and human population growth, several species may go extinct during our lifetime. They can’t compete for the limited food available as their habitats continue to shrink. Please revisit this week as I bring you more endangered animal photos and facts.
The red panda, also known as firefox, is endangered because of habitat loss. According to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., there are fewer than 2,500 adult red pandas. Red pandas live in the bamboo forests of China and share part of their range with the giant panda.
I took these red panda photos at my local zoo. Red pandas are comic characters and very beautiful. I watched one chase a muntjac around his exhibit one day. He was very persistent, but the muntjac evaded capture. I didn’t have my camera that day, but here are some tree-climbing photos. Enjoy.
