During a recent trip to Chattanooga, TN, I happened upon 212 Market, Tennessee’s first certified green restaurant. Of course, I had to go in and have lunch!
Did I notice a difference? Yes! Everything tasted very fresh and extremely delicious. I’ll never be able to have another chicken club sandwich quite that good. (They also have plenty of all-veggie options.)
It seems that eating green is not only good for the environment, it also tastes great. The service at 212 Market was excellent too. They have a wonderous dessert selection. (Admission: I’m a dessert freak.)
In addition to buying local and organic foods, the restaurant uses ecotainers and high-heat potato-starch spoons, forks and knives. A note on the doors says they are “future solar.” You can read all about their green steps at dinegreen.com. Also, search for a certified green restaurant in your area.
Dinegreen.com is the website of the Green Restaurant Association, a national nonprofit founded in 1990.
