When I started my green efforts in 2007, I stopped buying disposable plates and cups. I also reduced my use of paper towels and office paper. However, I was still using paper baking cups. Two of my small goals for 2008 are to stop using paper napkins (more on that later) and paper baking cups.
When I learned about silicone baking cups on Tree Hugging Family a few weeks ago, I put those babies on my Christmas list. I could not help taking a photo of my new toys in their first bath. Aren’t they pretty?
To my surprise, silicone baking cups are available in most stores, including some grocery stores. Most non-stick silicone baking cups on the market are indeed dishwasher safe and don’t require the use of a muffin pan. Also, when you have reusable baking cups on hand, you never have to worry about running out of paper cups. The brands that I received, Silicone Zone and KitchenAid, are oven and microwave safe.
No, I haven’t had time to bake in them yet, but I will give you my reviews as soon as I do. What about you? Have you tried silicone baking cups? What brand did you like?
