Get rid of unwanted catalogs with Catalog Choice

So, maybe you want some catalogs. That’s OK, but I’ll guess that you get more than a few catalogs that you don’t want.

At Catalog Choice you can choose which catalogs you no longer want to receive. Then, Catalog Choice does all the work for you. They contact the companies. It may be quicker if you have your customer number, but it’s not required.

sunset.jpgSign up (it’s free), search for catalogs you don’t want, then ask to be removed. It’s that easy.

Back in September, I posted about using customer numbers to get off of mailing lists. I was able to get off of some mailing lists this way by contacting each company, but some companies (like Pottery Barn) make it more difficult. I don’t care if they print their catalogs on recycled paper. Receiving numerous 200-page catalogs with essentially the same merchandise is silly, annoying and wasteful.

You may also want to check out my post about giving out your phone number when making purchases in stores. As easy as it may be to get off of mailing lists, it’s better to avoid getting on them in the first place.

I can proudly type I only get one catalog now for clothing. In Mississippi I used to get dozens. For some reason, the postperson would even leave me catalogs that were supposed to go to my neighbors and I even got catalogs aimed at former tenants of my house. It was ridiculous!

I’m keeping my one for now. I doubt I’ll sign up for any others. With the internet, you don’t really need them.

    Thanks for stopping by Virginia.

The problem with a lot of retailers is that they assume you want to be on their mailings lists because you once ordered something or bought something in one of their stores. I don’t think I’ve ever signed up for a catalog that I can remember. Maybe I did long ago.

I don’t get any catalogs since I moved out of the country, but I forwarded the link to my mother. I hope she follows through.

I get so many catalogs and requests for donations I throw most away. I get them about horses, dogs and cats, none of which I have. Sometimes I call the toll free number and request to be removed from their mailing list but it doesn’t always help. Any suggestions?
